I compete and enjoy road and cross country races ranging from 5k to marathon distances and also triathlon from short course to Ironman. I am a run director at Wilmslow parkrun.
Ian Morton
Club Chairman and Run Leader
After their inspirational Couch 2 5K course in 2018, I joined the club and continued to 10K and half marathon distances within a year. I was lucky enough to win a place in the London Marathon 2021, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
Stuart Bradshaw
Treasurer and Run Leader
I started running aged 45 and ran my first marathon aged 50. After saying never again, I ran another 18! Highlights include completing the World Marathon Majors and Comrades Ultra Marathon. I ran 5k every day in 2022 for #MoveAgainstCancer
Tony Collier
Coach
I am a founder member of the club and a former chairman. I’ve run a variety of races all over the world, from 5k to marathons. Now I run for pleasure and to keep fit. I’m a Run Leader and enjoy supporting the Couch to 5K groups.
Charles Lowthian
Vice-Chairman and Welfare Officer
I came late to running, joining the Club’s beginners course in 2016. Running is now a huge part of my life and, as one of the least speedy members of the club, I am passionate about encouraging and supporting those who also take a little longer to cover the ground.
Celia Reed
Coaching Assistant and Run Leader
I started running in school, because of my brother. A short, failed, attempt at long jumping led to distance running instead. I eventually signed up to a marathon to fill my Saturday mornings. Many miles later I now find the best runs have hills, or mud, or both.

Catherine Jackson
Welfare Officer
I joined the club having taken up running again in 2018, and it’s improved my running greatly. The support is fantastic from fellow club members and helps you achieve things you never thought you would do.
David Clark
Social Secretary and Projects
After a long career with the BBC I discovered running in retirement, and joined the club in 2019. As well as club runs I enjoy races, and in April 2023 I ran my first marathon. I'm also part of the core volunteer team at Wilmslow parkrun.
Mandy Winckworth
Marketing Officer
I’m a busy paramedic and wanted to improve my fitness. I joined Styal and have never looked back! I run 5k and 10k distances, cross country and trail. Since I joined I’ve completed three marathons. The support from the club inspired me to do a Run Leader course and help others to love running.
Sara Harris
Run Leader
I've been running with Styal Running Club for over 10 years. I joined to get fit, and I stayed because of the friendly and supportive members.
Jonathan Clarke
Run Leader
I started running properly when I joined the club in 2019. Up until then I had run a few races but had never really fallen in love with running. SRC changed that for me and has roused my competitive enthusiasm. I’ve gone on to run distances up to marathons and am due to run my first ultra this year.
Lexy Denton
Membership Secretary and Run Leader
As an occasional and not too confident runner, I discovered my love for it after completing the SRC Couch to 5k course in 2018. With the support of a great club, I've gone on to run 5k up to marathon races, cross country, trails and 24 hour relays. I just wish I'd started sooner!
Gilly Holland-Jones
Run Leader
My first half marathons were back in the early 1980's when motivation was easy. Although I never stopped running and occasionally racing in the intervening years, it wasn't until I joined Styal in 2013 that I got back to properly challenging myself again through the support of the other members.
Matthew Jackson
Run Leader
I joined Styal in 2014 and have enjoyed many races, holidays and 24 hour events with the gang - in all conditions! I'm back to running marathons after a few years out of long distance running to look after my toddler.
Emma Dewhurst
Run Leader
I started running properly when I was 50 - just to see if I still disliked it! After doing a Couch to 5k course I found that I love it. 10 years and 3 marathons later I want to share my love, enthusiasm and passion for the sport with everyone.
Sue Thurrold
Run Leader

Adelle Holt
Run Leader
I joined Styal in 2023, having previously run the odd 10k, and starting parkrun after Covid. With the support of the club and members I completed my first half marathon in 2024, and I've signed up for a marathon in 2025.
Rob Kirkbride
Run Leader
Prior to joining Styal I had intermittently run parkrun, and completed one 10k race. Since joining I've now run multiple 10ks and am no longer phased by this distance. Training for my first half marathon will begin in 2025 - gulp!
